“It Just Gets More and More Complex” - Making Sense of the Intoxicating Hemp-Derived Cannabinoids Market

In our latest session, Jordan Wellington hosts a panel including Dr. Priyanka Sharma of Kazmira, Stephen Cobb of DOSD & Nomad Extracts, and Bia Campbell from VS Strategies for a deep dive into the intoxicating hemp products that have swept across the country in the past few years. It’s a very complicated landscape with a bit of “straight-up alchemy” tossed in, and who better to make sense of it all than some Weed Wonks?

About This Episode:

Few things can make someone more perplexed or intrigued about the current state of cannabis in the U.S. than a visit to your nearest gas station.

In legal and illegal cannabis states, convenience stores, head shops, beauty stores, and stores that have no clear connection to cannabis are selling intoxicating products derived from cannabis - in one way or another.

In the latest Weed Wonks episode, Jordan Wellington cycles back through the hours and hours of meetings held this past year by a Colorado state task force on intoxicating cannabinoids, along with three expert panelists who also took part in the (extremely nerdy) sessions.

The panelists speak about Colorado’s efforts to make sense of this evolving landscape, how much has changed in cannabis in recent years, and how “the three buckets” perception of cannabis (intoxicating, non-intoxicating, and potentially intoxicating) has become more complex in the era of legal intoxicating hemp products.

The panelists talk about the “straight-up alchemy” that can come into play with some of these formulations and products and how we are moving towards a place where consumers are losing trust in hemp-derived products.
